Mika Vela-Gude

President

Hi Neighbors! I am your 2024 CCH President. I live on Libeth St with my boyfriend, Jay, and our almost one-year old, pup, Pascal Ramal. I am a Social Worker for a Medicaid Waiver Program where I work with children that are medically complex and chronically ill. In my free time, I enjoy DIY projects around the house, watching Bravo tv and going on long walks with Cal. As president of CCH, my goal is to keep the spirit of CCH alive through continued connection, events, and outreach. When I moved to CCH in 2018, I had no idea that I would be moving to the best community in Charlotte. I feel so honored to be president this year and to work towards keeping our community engaged.

Christian Ayers

Vice-President

Hilliard is home! Becca and I moved to CCH in 2015 with our dog Arya. We’ve been joined by our daughter and added another pup, Topper. I am a lawyer by trade, and I look forward to assisting the neighborhood with updating its bylaws, in addition to supporting the other members. While I enjoy fishing, birding and hiking with the dogs across the state, you can find me doing all three in the heights. Over 70 bird species have been seen in Shamrock Park, many in the native plants garden, and Briar Creek is surprisingly good for catch and release if you don’t mind Bream and Bass. With plenty of routes to “hike” the dogs there are few reasons to leave. That’s why I’m glad to call CCH home.

Jackie Almeter

Co-Social Chair

Hi neighbors! I am the new social chair of Country Club Heights! I moved into the neighborhood about 6 months ago and live on Kilborne Drive. I am an avid pickleball player and enjoy spending time with my cat, Snowball.

The moment I moved into the neighborhood, I knew I wanted to get involved with this community. I am planning on some new social events this year for both adults and children. I would like to see an increase in engagement and members.  If you have any recommendation for events you would like to see in our community, I would love to hear it!

Dr. Elena Tosky King

Schools Chair

Hi CCH community. I am Elena King, and I am in my second year in the role of chair of the schools committee. I am an English education professor at Greensboro College. I live on Townsend Avenue with my husband, Nate; 8-year-old son, David; and Persian cat, named Kitty. This March will mark 10 years living in CCH, and I’ve loved every year here. As chair of the schools committee, my goal is to keep the CCH community informed of opportunities to support our three neighborhood schools: Shamrock Gardens Elementary, Eastway Middle School, and Garinger High School. Each school holds a special place in my heart: my son currently attends SGE, I did my initial field work experience in Teaching English as a Second Language at Eastway many, many years ago, and I spent four wonderful years at Garinger as an ESL teacher. I look forward to continuing to serve our CCH community and schools.

Kurtis Andree

Festival Chair

My heart belongs to CCH. After moving to Charlotte in 2009 and living in Highland Creek for about a year, I was lured to East Charlotte and specifically to CCH by my amazing Realtor. I bought my home, the KmA Palace (as I so lovingly call it), in the Spring of 2010. I live here with my two dogs - Pierre de Coco (almost 11-year old Toy Poodle rescue) and Archie_the_Terrier (1-year old mixed Terrier). Both dogs have distinctive personalities. Since moving into the neighborhood, I quickly got involved with the neighborhood association - first helping to re-boot our yearly Festival in the Heights then taking over as Treasurer and then President - twice. I work in Finance for an amazing non-profit company called EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute - think tank that focuses on research to help provide reliable, affordable and equitable access to electricity). I live at the corner of Anne St & Country Club directly across from the school. I’m the Festival Chair this year & look forward to working with those of you who want to volunteer or sell your wares or just have a drink!  CCH - best neighborhood ever!
